Analysis of 'Running Man'

Content analysis of 'Running Man

In the opening of the film “running man” you Schwarzenegger as a police man refusing to do his order of massacring a large group of unarmed Hungry civilians mostly consisting of woman and children. His comrades detain him and carry out the mission. 18 months later he is seen in a prison camp, staging a successful breakout. 3 characters were introduced. It is set in America an partial Mexico. Fade ins and outs are used a lot as transitions between scenes. The props used are a helicopter interior, collars with explosives and force field poles where if you went by them without them being deactivated the collar would blow up and so would your head. Costumes used are ragged clothes for the prisoners, grey/beige caps and uniforms for the helicopter pilots and blue jumpers with black helmets for the prison guards. The purpose of the main characters is to keep us interested and show the plot. The main character is Schwarzenegger. it is set in the future (2019) where government has collapsed and a tv show called “The Running Man” has taken the threshold of the world. The characters are fairly young as this film was made in 19-somethings. The main characters are male with one female character that presumably plays the love interest. The main characters profession used to be solder before he realized what kind of people he worked for. The type of background music plays one of angst and tenseness. Some diagetic sound is used but there’s a lot of non diagetic such as gun shots. What we learn about the story is that the worlds future is a corrupt place full of lies and villains. But it made me want to watch on.
